Training
For over three decades, Juan Garayar Gallegos has been training Peruvian Paso horses by applying Maestro Humberto Pelan’s pedagogy. He offers years of incomparable experience in the pleasure and breeding division. The Peruvian Paso horses at Garayar Training Center possess some of the most impressive lineage in the world. They include the bloodlines of AV Sol de Paijan (northern Peru), AEV regional (southern Peru), and JOR (Jose Antonio Onrubia). Juan Garayar Gallegos’ training method is gentle and effective. His training method is evident in the horse’s mannerisms at the show and at home.
Training, for our horses, begins at an early age. After a foal is born, we try to earn the mare’s trust by calmly approaching the foal and exchanging touch by gentle pats of the hand or a gentle groom with a brush. In that way, they are aware of our presence. After the exchange of sight, smell, and touch, we leave the mare and foal. Our goal is to instill the virtue of trust.
We patiently increase our proximity to the foal as they mature. We’ll start off with a lead line and halter. This allows them to understand who we are within their circle. An assertive gentle hand. It isn’t until their 3rd year that we ask more from them. We start the “First Saddle” around the ages of 3 or 4, after extensive ground work. This is a crucial moment in their development, where all they have experienced, until now, will determine whether or not they will accept our requests with understanding. This is a patient and challenging moment in our training. We value our horses spirit and individuality, and we pride ourselves in keeping both intact.
Sales
At Garayar Training Center we offer numerous horses for sale that will satisfy a rider’s needs. Each horse has a personality just like us. This is not like buying a car. We try our best to pair two individuals and longtime friends.
Lessons
Garayar Training Center offers lessons on how to ride a Peruvian Paso horse. Juan Garayar’s expertise and ability to teach will help anyone who would like to improve their relationship with their horse. Our facility provides horse and rider with ample space to experience and learn from each other. We have a small arena with a sound board. The sound board is a an excellent acoustic device if one is inclined to hear their horse’s footfall. The perimeter of our facility has small trails that can be ridden on and our neighborhood is horse-friendly if one would like to adventure outside.

The Garayar Training Center facility is equipped with all the amenities to board and care for your cherished companion.
